The Week in Freelance: Naomi Watts, Brooke Shields, Bridgerton & Best American Short Stories
I promised I was going to be better about posting my freelance articles to Substack this year, and it’s off to a promising start with four articles published so far, including interviews with Naomi Watts and Brooke Shields for The Los Angeles Times which appeared in Sunday’s print issue as part of a spread on menopause, which I guess I write about now! The Brooke Shields piece can be found online here, while the Naomi Watts piece will be on the site next Sunday closer to the book’s publication date (and I strongly suggest anyone going through menopause or perimenopause or having strange medical symptoms in their thirties—it me—pick up her book because it is full of lots of valuable information, in addition to the anecdotes about Billy Crudup’s grey ball hairs!). I’ll be sure to post it here then.
I also interviewed Bridgerton’s costume designer John Glaser, who has been nominated for a Costume Designers Guild Award for his work on the show. Stay tuned for another upcoming piece for Shondaland, this time an interview with the hair and makeup designer of the show, Erika Ökvist.
And last but not least, I interviewed Heidi Pitlor, former series editor for Best American Short Stories, who stepped down after 18 years in the role, for The Creative Independent.
If you missed anything, all my previous articles can be found at my website, also The Scarlett Woman.
This week for subscribers: I’ll have an interview with domestic thriller author Leah Konen about her latest novel, The Last Room on the Left. So don’t forget to subscribe to stay up to date!
